Corporate Responsibility

DC Concierge with Corporate Responsibility

Since 1987, Capitol Concierge has been building a legacy of service to our clients, our employees and the community. We believe our purpose is to enrich the lives of others. Through our commitment to our core values, diversity and inclusion, stewardship and environmentally friendly policies, we hope to have a positive, lasting impact on the world.

Capitol Concierge is committed to fostering and preserving a culture of diversity and inclusion. As an equal opportunity employer, the company does not discriminate in employment opportunity or practices on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, marital status, personal appearance, disability, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identify or expression, family responsibilities, genetic information, matriculation, political affiliation, veteran status, or any other characteristics protected by law. The company will not countenance discrimination against any employee or applicant in any aspects of employment, including hiring, promotions, termination, compensation, benefit programs and education opportunities. All managers who are involved with employment activities will be responsible for conforming to this policy and the compliance requirements of applicable state and federal regulations.

The company has adopted a policy that covers all employees of Capitol Concierge, including applicants for employment and third parties over whom Capitol Concierge has control and governs all aspects of employment. The policy applies to all discrimination and harassment occurring in the work environment whether on Capitol Concierge premises, in other work areas or Capitol Concierge related settings and applies regardless of the gender or positions of the individuals involved.

Particular attention is called to the prohibition of sexual harassment. The company will seek to ensure and maintain a working environment free of harassment, intimidation, and coercion at all locations and in all facilities at which the company’s employees may work. It shall be specifically ensured that all on-site supervisory personnel are aware of and carry out the obligation to maintain such working environment, with specific attention to minority and/or female individuals.

Philanthropy is an important part of who we are and what we do. Capitol Concierge is committed to giving back to the community through the donation of our time and financial resources through our philanthropy program, Capitol Cares.

Capitol Cares’ mission is to participate in community SERVICE for others to improve our communities, strengthen our organization through teamwork, and contribute to the greater good.

As part of our philanthropic commitment, our corporate office comes together with their families to support local canned food, clothing, Toys for Tots and back-to-school drives; and participates in the Cleanup Day and Challenge Day Special Olympics events at the James E. Duckworth School. Beyond these community service efforts, many of our employees have a strong personal commitment to community service that Capitol Cares supports. Our employees donate hundreds of hours to disaster relief support, Potomac Job Corps, Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, soup kitchens, United Way, Homeless Walk, Volunteer Firefighting, American Red Cross blood drives, Neighborhood Watch Programs and many, many more.

Environmental stewardship and sustainability are essential elements of our culture and our vision for the company’s future. We understand that we have a direct impact on the well-being of our society and ecology. That is why we consider it our utmost corporate responsibility to protect the environment and take proactive steps to continually improve our environmentally friendly processes.

Our company is dedicated to being as green as possible. In fact, more than 75% of our service partners are certified “green” companies, and many of the properties we serve are LEED certified. To promote environmentally conscious decisions, we host Earth Day events at many of our properties. In our corporate offices, we have automated our systems to minimize the use of paper and we encourage our employees to use mass transit whenever possible.
