Corporate Responsibility

DC Concierge with Corporate Responsibility

Since 1987, Capitol Concierge has been building a legacy of service to our clients, our employees and the community. We believe our purpose is to enrich the lives of others. Through our commitment to our core values, stewardship and environmentally friendly policies, we hope to have a positive, lasting impact on the world.

Aside from making lives easier, how else do we change the world? By starting with our local communities. Each quarter, we participate in a variety of service projects and events supporting causes that better our communities. In addition, we consider it our utmost responsibility to seek ways to decrease our carbon footprint and strongly encourage our employees, service partners and contractors to support our environmental policy.

Unwavering commitment to our core values has helped Capitol Concierge grow to become the nation’s top provider of concierge services. Doing the right thing is at the heart of our company. We treat people and handle situations with the highest level of integrity, not only because the success of our business demands it, but because it’s who we are.

Collectively and individually, we consistently promote and embrace our core values:

  • Integrity: Honest with strong moral principles
  • Loyalty: Committed to others, the team and the company
  • Passion to serve others (joyfully): Serving and respecting others with a joyful attitude
  • Accountability: Accepts responsibility for one’s own actions, responses and performance
  • Transparency: Open and clear communication
  • 100%, 100% of the time: Dedicated to going above and beyond

The significance we place on our core values has resulted in Capitol Concierge’s reputation for being dependable, responsive and mindful of the Golden Rule. Our commitment to these principles has earned us numerous accolades, including the 2012 “National Capital Business Ethics Award.”

Capitol Concierge’s essential mission is providing services that makes people’s lives easier. This philosophy extends beyond our corporate walls and reaches into our community. We recognize that the communities in which we work have played a large role in our success. That’s why we strive to enrich lives by giving back to the same communities we serve. We do this by donating time and financial resources through our corporate philanthropy program, Capitol Cares.

The Capitol Cares mission is to participate in community service for others to improve our communities, strengthen our organization through teamwork and contribute to the greater good.

We aspire to be a leader in corporate consciousness. As one of the first 200 companies to pledge to the national Billion + Change campaign, Capitol Concierge has committed to providing thousands of hours of pro bono leadership skills to help nonprofits address community needs. Our CEO is an active member of the community: Lynda Ellis leads corporate efforts with her civic involvement in organizations like Second Chance, the FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association, the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship and more. With an experienced executive team to lead our philanthropic mission, we continually strive to positively impact the community and the world around us.

Capitol Concierge comes together in support of local and national charitable organizations throughout the year. Past philanthropic efforts include:

  • Donating canned foods, clothes and toys, organized by our concierges and held at our properties
  • Sponsoring children through the Salvation Angel Tree program to purchase new clothing and toys for deserving children in need
  • Volunteering at the Capital Area Food Bank
  • Participating in community service at the James E. Duckworth Regional School
  • Forming teams for the National AIDS Walk and the National Race to End Women’s Cancer
  • Donating thousands of community service hours to numerous groups and organizations, including:
    • The Salvation Army
    • The American Red Cross
    • Neighborhood Watch Programs
    • Habitat for Humanity
    • Local Soup Kitchens
    • United Way
    • Homeless Walk

Environmental stewardship and sustainability are essential elements of the Capitol Concierge culture and our vision for the company’s future. We understand that our endeavors have a direct impact on the well-being of our society and ecology. That is why we consider it our utmost corporate responsibility to protect the environment and take proactive steps to continually improve our environmentally friendly processes. We actively seek new ways to decrease our carbon footprint by working to minimize pollution, reduce waste, save energy and water and purchase products created from sustainable resources. We encourage our employees, service partners and contractors to support our environmental policy.

Our corporate office is dedicated to being as green as possible, and we support recycling and related efforts to minimize the amount of paper and energy consumed daily. This commitment to sustainability is reflected in our properties as well as our service partners. In fact, more than 75 percent of our service partners are certified “green” companies, and many of the buildings in which we are located are LEED certified. In addition, to promote environmentally conscious decisions, we host Earth Day events at some of our properties.
